Did you know that the first statement of Jesus’ ministry is about repentance?
Matthew chapter 3:2
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Jesus also preached more about hell than heaven.
So why is repentance so necessary?
It is an acknowledgment that you are a sinner and have fallen short. It is an act of humility before God where you confess your sin and ask God to forgive you. Repentance is a crucial element of salvation. It is through repentance that you make God’s will your foundation. Repentance, therefore, becomes a course correction and aligning your ways with the will of God.
As believers, let’s remember 1 John chapter 1: 9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Repentance should therefore be a lifestyle.
