I have sinned, does that mean I will go to hell?
The fact that you are asking this question means that you acknowledge the presence of hell and heaven, and right and wrong. Most likely, you know that sinners are sent to hell, and non-sinners go to heaven. But the Kingdom of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus is much more complex than that. The answer to whether you will go to heaven or hell is based on what you do next after acknowledging your sinful nature.
Will you go to Hell?
That depends on what you do next.
In Luke 9:56, Jesus says that “the Son of Man did not come to destroy Men’s lives, but to save them.” Because of Him, being a sinner is not a direct conviction to hell. Actually, “all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.” Instead, the first step is to accept your sinful nature, allowing Jesus a chance to change and perfect you. Acknowledging your sinful nature allows an individual to submit to the only person who can change an individual.
This is not limited to a specific sin, but all sins including but not limited to sexual immorality, lying, anger, murder, and others. Jesus Christ, the word, is the only person that has the capability to change us. Through His death and resurrection, he defeated the devil and all his demons. In Ephesians 1:21, we are told that He has power over all rule, authority, power, and dominion. The word, which is Jesus Christ, is also described as the sharpest sword being able to separate the bone from the marrow and the soul from the spirit. It is this mighty power that you relinquish your authority to, and give Him the change to work in you and make you His child.
God is compassionate, and He would never turn away from you. Even with your sins as red as scarlet, He still calls us to Him to sit with Him and reason together. The Bible further states that there is no condemnation in Christ. As soon as you confess your sins, He forgives you and forgets. He will never remind you of what you did previously.
So come to your father (God), through Jesus Christ His son, for the sanctification of the soul and forgiveness of sin. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and let Him do the refining. As our creator, we are told in John 1 that all things were created through Him. As such, He has a clear understanding of each of our needs. He knows how to sanctify us in a manner that doesn’t leave us hopeless. He will send the Holy Spirit who will teach you the ways of God, and reveal to you the secrets of the kingdom of God. And through this process, you will be changed one cell at a time.
The product of the sanctification process will definitely go to hell. Rather, you will be seated in the heavenly place with Jesus, the one who conquered it all.
